Explanation of phylogenetic trees

Of the Ferungulata, the sister clade of the Ferae is most likely  Perissodactyla.  If this taxon (Ferae + Perissodactyla) is found to be a monophyletic clade it will be called Zooamata.  Some authors place Chiroptera as the outgroup of Ferungulata, while others make Chiroptera a sister clade to Zooamata in a group that is called Pegasoferae and is itself a sister clade to Cerartiodactyla.  The latter hypothesis would make Cerartiodactyla the outgroup of Ferungulata.
